Universal Kids Is Ten Minutes Away. The Pass Calendar Decides When You Can Actually Go.

"The Universal Kids Resort Theme Park operates seasonally and will close to all guests on the following dates." That line sits on Universal's annual pass page, just below the blockout list. For families who live a short drive from Panther Creek Parkway and the Dallas North Tollway, it matters more than any ride list. The park opened July 1, 2026. Between blockouts and closures, the days a Frisco family can actually use a pass between now and the end of February come in clumps. Which pass you hold decides which clumps you get.

Here's how the calendar falls, month by month, and what each pass buys against it.

Halloween's remaining Saturdays are off-limits to Silver passholders

Universal has two Silver passes. One includes regular self-parking and one doesn't, and both carry the same blockout dates. In October 2026 those dates are the 17th, 24th and 31st. All three are Saturdays, and every one falls in the park's first Halloween season.

Universal hasn't put a Halloween event announcement on its official pages. Independent coverage fills in the details. Diservations reported on October 3 that the season runs October 2 through November 1. It described a Universal Monster Tots show, a Halloween procession with Gabby and her friends, and six Trick for Treat game stations, and said costumes are welcome but not required. Family Quest Central reported that the activities it tried were included with regular admission, with no separate Halloween ticket. It also reported weekday Trick for Treat hours of noon to 4 p.m. and noted that the schedule was still changing.

On the posted calendar, that leaves Silver holders with the weekdays and three Sundays: October 18, October 25 and November 1, the last day of the reported Halloween run. On the three blocked Saturdays, your options are a Gold pass or a day ticket.

November is wide open for passholders, with gaps in the middle of the week

November has no Silver blockout dates at all. It's the one month this fall when every pass holds the same access. The catch is that the park itself closes on these dates:

  • Tuesday and Wednesday, November 3 and 4
  • Tuesday and Wednesday, November 10 and 11
  • Tuesday and Wednesday, November 17 and 18
  • Thursday, November 26, which is Thanksgiving

Weekends, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays stay open through the first three weeks. So does the Friday after Thanksgiving, with no blockout for anyone. Closures apply to every pass, Gold included. Universal also says the dates may change and that days may be added or removed. Check the official calendar before you load the car. That's also where hours are posted by date. For a sense of hours, NBC 5 reported at opening that the park typically ran from 10 a.m. to 7 or 8 p.m., depending on the day.

December splits at the 12th

December's first week and a half is clear for every pass. From there, Silver blockouts land on Saturday, December 12, Saturday, December 19 and Sunday, December 20. Then comes a solid block from Saturday, December 26 through Wednesday, December 30. The park closes to everyone on December 25.

So the week between Christmas and New Year's, when school is out and grandparents may be in town, is mostly blocked for Silver passes. December 31 isn't on the blockout list.

No holiday or Christmas event for 2026 has been announced on Universal's official pages so far. Universal has said its passes are meant to cover "seasonal events and limited-time offerings." Dan Cuffe, the resort's vice president and general manager, said so in the Gold pass announcement reported by WFAA.

January and February nearly disappear

This is where the seasonal schedule really shows. The posted closure dates for early 2027 leave the park open on these days:

Month Closed to all guests Days open When it's open
January 2027 6–8, 11–14, 19–31 11 Jan. 1–5, Jan. 9–10, Jan. 15–18
February 2027 1–11, 17–19, 22–26 9 Feb. 12–16, Feb. 20–21, Feb. 27–28

From January 19 through February 11, the park is closed for 24 days in a row. After the New Year's stretch, the open days are mostly weekends plus two long holiday weekends. January 15–18 runs Friday through Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and February 12–16 runs Friday through the Tuesday after Presidents' Day. No Silver blockouts fall in either month, so every pass gets those same 20 days.

Spring is where the Silver calendar tightens again. March 13 through 21 is blocked out, and so is nearly every weekend from June through August 2027. Over a full year, a Silver pass works mainly on weekdays and off-season weekends. That's a good fit for families with preschoolers and a tougher one for families planning around a school calendar.

What each pass costs against this calendar

The passes priced on Universal's site as of October 2026:

Silver Silver with Parking Gold
Price $129.99 $164.99 $199.99
Blockout dates Yes Yes None
Regular self-parking Not included Included Included
10% off food, merchandise, Friends & Family tickets No No Yes
Premium parking No discount No discount $20 off

Each step up costs $35. At opening, NBC 5 reported regular parking at $20 and premium parking at $30, paid at an on-site toll plaza that takes NTTA TollTags. At that rate, the parking version of Silver covers its extra cost by the second visit. Gold's extra $35 over Silver with Parking buys the blocked days. This fall that means three Halloween Saturdays and eight December dates. Next year it adds spring break week and most summer weekends. The 10% discounts and the $20 off premium parking come on top.

For comparison, Universal's ticket page lists one-day admission from $49.99 and two-day admission from $73.99, plus tax. Prices vary by date, and children under 2 get in free. Peak days run higher. Texas Monthly's September review, written by a North Texas reviewer, noted admission topping $300 for a family of four on a holiday weekend. Silver passes sold out around opening, the Dallas Morning News reported. The official pass page now shows a Buy Now link, and Universal's homepage lists Silver at $129.99. The Gold pass arrived after opening as the no-blockout option, per WFAA.

The park is built to be done in a day, which suits frequent short visits. NBC 5 described it as Universal's first theme park built specifically for children ages 3 to 8. It has seven lands: Shrek's Swamp, Jurassic World Adventure Camp, SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom, Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club, TrollsFest, Puss in Boots Del Mar, and the Isle of Curiosity. A 300-room hotel sits at the entrance. On the Texas Monthly writer's Sunday visit, parking was about a three-minute walk from the entrance and entry lines were slow, but the park didn't feel overrun.

The roads around the park are mostly finished

Frisco built the access roads ahead of the park. The six-lane Panther Creek Parkway extension from the Dallas North Tollway to Preston Road opened in late October 2025, with a new signal at Universal Parkway, according to Community Impact. Mayor Jeff Cheney told WFAA that roads and infrastructure went in ahead of the expected congestion. He also said the mix of office, entertainment and tourism along the Tollway was meant to spread traffic across the day.

One project is still underway. As of Community Impact's October 1 update, PGA Parkway is being widened into a six-lane divided road from Preston Road to Coit Road, a $31.1 million project expected to finish in fall 2026. Nearby, the city announced on October 2 that Teel Parkway traffic between Fields Parkway and Rockhill Parkway had shifted onto the new northbound bridge, with one lane open each way while work continues.

Businesses are opening around the park too. The Brunch District opened down the road about a month before WFAA's report on the opening. Its manager told the station he expects the area to get busier over the next year as the resort and the surrounding Fields and PGA development fill in. No one has published traffic counts since the opening. For now, the clearest guide to a quick Universal trip is the closure calendar, plus a check for PGA Parkway lane shifts if you're coming from the east.
